Talon Recruiting has partnered with a leading Heavy Equipment Dealer in search of an experienced Service Manager to lead their service operations in Kent and Mt. Vernon, WA to support the Company’s growing customer base in the area.
Our client provides a full line-up of heavy machinery covering general production, aggregate processing, road, and compact utility equipment from well-known companies. The company delivers comprehensive sales, rental, leasing, parts and service support in Washington, Oregon and Northern Idaho. They are a dynamic company offering a progressive environment that leads to active teamwork and individual growth.
SUMMARY
Reporting to the General Manager, the successful candidate must demonstrate a strong track record for managing a shop and field service workforce. You will work in a team environment, and across departments, to ensure a
high level of customer support while meeting Company objectives. The successful applicant will
address the following key job responsibilities:
- Overall operation and management of Service Department employees emphasizing teamwork, safety, customer responsiveness, integrity and profitable decision making;
- Assure diagnosis and scheduled repair work is completed accurately and in a timely manner. Responsive follow up to customer concerns and complaints;
- Work with parts, warranty and sales teams to provide excellent customer service;
- Oversee department safety initiatives and certify adherence to safety procedures;
- Ensure all work orders are accurate and closed on a timely basis;
- Accountable for the department’s customer service, operating, safety and financial metrics;
- Develop, evaluate and motivate staff. Create developmental / learning plans for service department employees.
- Conduct regular department meetings to present and discuss service campaigns, safety, operations, financial and company information;
REQUIREMENTS
- Three to five years of service management in the construction equipment sector;
- College classes or degree preferred, but experience may be substituted or combined with
- education;
- Possess the necessary problem-solving skills to meet the needs of our customers, employees and OEM equipment suppliers;
- Excellent people skills with capable organizational and communication skills.
- Infrequent travel (15% approx.) that may occasionally include an overnight stay.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record;
- Good computer proficiency including Microsoft products and dealer business systems;
- Knowledge of federal and state safety regulations and best practices pertaining to both shop and job site locations;
- Discretion in handling confidential and financial information;
- Strong references from former employers and colleagues;
